RE:LOOP (2024)

Live audiovisual performance
Thalia Programmkino, Potsdam
Full cinema setting, ~60 attendees

Re:Loop is the visual part of a two-hour live performance combining music and real-time visuals. I was invited by Chris Uibel to create and perform the visual layer of the piece, developed in response to a looping-based musical set that explored personal and emotional transitions across time. My role involved crafting a visual narrative that would evolve alongside the sound, not just as a backdrop but as an active, breathing counterpart to the performance.

The storyline I designed moves through shifting emotional states: from the intimacy of interior spaces to the chaos of collapse, and finally toward abstraction, memory, and cosmic distance. Inspired by the layered, retrospective structure of the music, I built a visual journey that mirrors themes of transformation, disorientation, and rebirth.

The visuals were a combination of generative compositions and manipulated AI-generated video material. I received a set of AI-created images and videos that I integrated into the narrative, reshaping and layering them with motion, texture, and rhythm to match the evolving atmosphere of the sound. These elements were brought to life in real time using a MIDI controller, allowing me to respond intuitively to the shifts in tempo, tone, and emotional depth.

The performance took place in a dark cinema space, which created a focused, immersive environment. The audience response was deeply encouraging. Several viewers approached me afterward to share that the visuals had strongly shaped their emotional experience of the piece.
