common ground (2026)

Temporary Public Installation

Common Ground is a temporary observation work at the edge of the pond, on a site whose future is under constant human discussion. Its main inhabitants are not human, and they have no say in any decision about the area or about which of them belong.

The work is a small attempt to give some of that agency back, by doing almost nothing. There is no structure, only a few branches set upright and ropes strung between them: understated enough that one cannot tell whether they were placed on purpose or belong to the site, yet just out of place enough to raise the question. A single trail camera keeps watch, triggered not by movement but by the warmth of a body passing against the cooler surroundings, by day or night. Nothing is baited, arranged, or directed. The work is only a silent witness, watching how the animals use the site and trying to understand their habits.

The footage gathered over the week is later will be developed into an artist's book: an experimental work that reworks the recordings into manipulated and generative visuals, set against a text poised between observation and fiction.
